Augmenting the Boutique Coffee Experience with Technological Convenience
Independent coffee shops, known for their unique, high-quality, and personalized experiences, offer far more than just coffee. These cafes excel at offering high-quality coffee while building strong customer relationships and fostering a sense of community.
While independent coffee shops continue to gain traction, they compete against large, established chains whose customer experience includes convenient online ordering and rewards.
To help independent coffee shops offer a parallel experience, technology company BRU had commenced development on a point-of-sale (POS) platform for coffee shops, plus a corresponding public-facing mobile app.
A Seamless Experience for Coffee Aficionados and Café Owners
BRU’s native mobile applications provide consumers with a dedicated platform to search for nearby coffee shops and place orders. Additionally, users earn rewards for all orders placed through the app, allowing for flexibility in earning and redemption.
The POS system, built specifically to meet the needs of coffee shop owners, serves as the backend for customer orders and credit card processing. Its functionalities also include managing inventory, menus, and kitchen orders, as well as business analytics.
Although development on both the mobile and POS platforms had commenced by the time BRU engaged Perituza, the scope, project plan, and release plan for the MVP release still needed to be finalized.
Designing and Developing Integrated Platforms
After analyzing the existing source code and conducting a full test and analysis of the existing platforms, Perituza conducted a series of onsite discovery meetings with BRU leadership. Perituza performed a gap analysis which identified the functionalities that still needed to be completed prior to BRU’s official launch. Before proceeding with development, Perituza finalized the requirements documentation, project plan, and solution architecture.

We were looking for a development partner who would fit in with our team and understand both the business and technical aspects of our platform. The Perituza team consulted us through the setup and development process while providing us with alternatives we had not previously considered.
As a result, our infrastructure costs have decreased by 40%, and we now have increased reliability and system performance. To date, we have been very pleased with the services and the quality of the development.
